International presentations

"The Germans have a penchant for coming to all meetings armed with tons of overhead transparencies and colored charts.
It's information overkill."
- Robert Eaton, former CEO of Chrysler, after his first meeting with Daimler board members.

The above sums up the basic problem when Germans make speeches in an American environment. In our workshop, you'll not only learn how to best present your ideas to colleagues, senior management and customers, but will also come to understand the intercultural parameter, the needs and expectations of your audience. You'll have the opportunity to work on your general presentation skills and reflect on them in an international context. The bottom line is that you'll become more sensitive of the cultural differences that can break deals and the minute adjustments that can make them succeed.

Topics include:

- American and German expectations concerning a speech
- Organizing what you want to present
- Selling yourself: personal preparation, "stage fright", acting skills
- Do's and taboos in international presentations
- Handling questions
- Audio and visual support

Workshop length: two days (one day for individual coaching)

Usual number of participants: 4 to 8
Participants are requested to bring along actual (work) presentations. These will be developed and rehearsed. Speeches will then be videotaped for critical review.
